## Free Year 5 Maths Worksheets And Homework – Download, Print, Or View Online

Anantha anilkumar.

Here you’ll find all our Year 5 maths worksheets, and Year 5 maths tests that are suitable for use during classroom lessons and as homework.

• What to expect from our Year 5 Maths worksheets

These KS2 maths worksheets cover every part of the Year 5 primary maths curriculum, to help your children practise and gain confidence in their understanding ahead of Year 6 and the KS2 SATs . Their focus is on retrieval practice – going over topics that children should already have covered and helping them strengthen their knowledge and understanding.

Most of our worksheets come in pdf format, and all of them are printable. But if you’re running out of printer ink, they can be viewed online too.

Every Year 5 maths test or worksheet comes with its own answer sheet, and guidance from the National Curriculum is included wherever it might be needed (for example, if there might be more than one correct answer for a question). Some worksheets also include model answers to help children break down the best way to solve a problem.

Note: The National Curriculum does not specify any place value teaching for Year 5. However this is often a good time to begin revising the topic (among others) in preparation for the KS2 SATs. Have a look at these place value worksheets as part of your revision.

Similarly, addition and subtraction work is largely an extension of what was covered in previous years. Take a look at our collection of addition and subtraction worksheets for practice materials for these topics.

If you’re a parent looking for more advice, try our  home learning hub full of home learning packs , tips and teaching ideas for Year 5 Maths at Home and maths homework .

If you’re a teacher or school leader who is interested in improving maths attainment in your school or classroom, then this whole website is for you. Third Space Learning is dedicated to improving outcomes in maths with our online tutoring programme of maths interventions , together with maths resources and CPD.

## Year 5 Place Value Worksheets

Year 5 addition and subtraction worksheets, year 5 multiplication and division worksheets, year 5 fractions worksheets, year 5 decimals and percentages worksheets, year 5 statistics worksheets, year 5 measurement worksheets, year 5 maths tests, year 5 mental maths and arithmetic worksheets: fluent in five.

One of our most popular resources with parents and teachers and a great way to start or end the day, Fluent in Five worksheets include 5-10 minutes worth of quick arithmetic questions designed to help children become quicker at making mental or written calculations.

Children are given around 5 questions per maths worksheet – more than in previous years – to get them used to completing more questions in a short space of time ahead of Year 6 and the KS2 maths arithmetic paper.

## Year 5 Maths reasoning and problem solving worksheets: Rapid Reasoning

Reasoning is one of the key maths skills pupils are expected to show by the time they take the Key Stage 2 SATs, and our Rapid Reasoning worksheets give them plenty of extra practice! This pack comes with six weeks of questions, with around three to four word problems to solve per day.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets place value: Code Crackers

Place value is one of the most important topics in the mathematics curriculum. This fun worksheet covers key elements of the Year 5 place value curriculum including Roman numerals, negative numbers and rounding.

Use this free resource to recap Year 5 place value learning whilst finding the punchline to a pirate themed joke.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets place value: All kind of word problems

Place value is the basis of all mathematical knowledge. This workbook encourages children to deepen their understanding of place value through a range of different problems. Children will focus on understanding and rounding decimal numbers in context (money) creating numbers with different values and understanding Roman numerals in context (years written in Roman numerals).

## Year 5 Maths worksheets place value: Worked Examples

As larger numbers are introduced, children can find the topic of place value more challenging. This worksheet focuses on common misconceptions and encouraging children to identify and explain errors, therefore developing their reasoning skills.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets addition and subtraction: Let’s practise using the bar model

Year 5 children will not only need to know how to add and subtract numbers with more than 4-decimal places, they will also need to add and subtract decimal numbers. This worksheet focuses on solving worded problems that include these elements, while also introducing the very useful visual element of a bar model.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets addition and subtraction: Worked Examples

Children can often make errors when using formal written methods of addition and subtraction, estimating or mental arithmetic methods. This worksheet encourages children to consider and discuss common errors that could be encountered.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets addition and subtraction: All kinds of word problems

This resource encourages children to think about maths in a more open ended way. In this workbook, children are presented with a range of problems to solve and not all of them will have one answer only. From checking the addition and subtraction answers to writing a range of ways to create a number, pupils will be challenged with this resource.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets addition and subtraction: Code Crackers

Sometimes, some simple retrieval questions to round up a topic is all that is needed. This resource focuses on adding and subtracting numbers with 4 or more digits to find the answer to a space themed joke.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets on Times Tables: Tarsia Puzzles

By the time children start in Year 5, they are expected to know all their times tables in any order and the related division facts. These worksheets are a fun way to practise times tables facts independently and develop mental arithmetic skills for any children who are less confident.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for long multiplication

By the end of Year 5, children are expected to be able to multipy up to 4-digit numbers by 1- and 2-digit numbers, and multiply decimal and whole numbers by multiples of 10 up to 1000, according to the National Curriculum.

These worksheets help pupils improve their skills with the former, with 45 questions ranging from multiplying 2-digit numbers by other 2-digit numbers all the way to multiplying 4-digit numbers. Each worksheet also comes with an answer scheme and modelled answers to show children how to correctly lay out their long multiplication calculations.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets multiplication: All kinds of word problems

This workbook focuses on a range of different multiplication problems that require multiple steps to find an answer. The questions include comparison statements, complete the multiplication grid and multiplication questions involving money.

## Year 5 Maths worksheets multiplication: Let’s practise using the bar model

Children can find worded problems challenging to answer. This worksheet focuses on recapping multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 then progressing to up to 3-digit numbers multiplied by teen numbers. While this may seem challenging, the addition of the bar models helps pupils to visualise and answer the more complex problems.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for long division

Long division is one of the most difficult parts of the primary maths curriculum. This set of 3 worksheets helps children practice it in stages, including several short division questions to begin with to help them get warmed up before tackling the harder questions.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for multiplication & division: Code Crackers

Our Code Crackers worksheets give children a fun way to revise their knowledge of a topic. Each Code Crackers worksheet includes a series of questions – in this case multiplication and division problems – based on what they have learned that year, and the answers can be put together to make the punchline of a joke!

In Year 5 children will mostly be practising long multiplication and division, but some short division/short multiplication questions are also included, to help them keep their knowledge of the basics sharp.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for multiplication & division: Worked Examples

There is a lot of content to cover for multiplication and division in Year 5, which is why we made two different worked examples worksheets. The first worksheet covers common misconceptions found when learning about prime numbers, square numbers, multiplying or dividing by a power of ten and factors. The second worksheet covers multiply 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers (and two 2-digit numbers) and dividing a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on fractions: Code Crackers

By Year 5, children have learned about both equivalent fractions and improper fractions, and even begun combining the two. Our Code Crackers fractions worksheet helps them get even more practice in solving these complicated questions.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on fractions: Independent Recap

Our newest style of maths worksheets, independent recap sheets are meant to be completed by children with little extra support, making them perfect home learning or homework activities.

This Year 5 maths worksheet focuses on finding fractions of amounts, and includes an arithmetic warm up involving adding and subtracting fractions, before moving onto reasoning questions that test how well children have learned how to calculate fractions of amounts.

## Year 5 Maths worksheet on fractions: worked examples

There are certain aspects of fractions that will be familiar to Year 5 students but may still carry misconceptions. This worksheet focuses on showing these misconceptions to children to allow them to discuss them openly. While the worksheet covers some familiar aspects (adding and subtracting fractions, ordering fractions) a new element of different denominators has been introduced.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on decimals and percentages: Code Crackers

A worksheet of problems covering percentages and numbers up to two decimal places, with the answers coming together to form the punchline to the joke given at the start – great for retrieval practice!

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on decimals and percentages: Independent Recap

While decimals were introduced in Year 4, percentages are new for Year 5. These simple to follow worksheets introduce what percentages are before moving on to writing percentages as fractions and decimals.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on decimals and percentages: All kinds of word problems

This workbook has a range of activities to do with decimals and percentages including converting between the two and finding percentages of amounts.

Download Year 5 Worksheets on decimals and percentages: All kinds of word problems

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on decimals and percentages: Let’s practise using the bar model

It is often important for children to understand when they will use the maths topics they are learning. This worksheet brings percentages and decimals into a real world context (shopping, for example) to help children to understand why, for example, knowing how to find a percentage of an amount is useful.

Download Year 5 decimals and percentages worksheets: Let’s practise using the bar model

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets on decimals and percentages: Worked Examples

This worksheet covers what percentage is, converting between decimals, percentages and fractions as well as understanding the value of decimals. There are a range of common errors that are made within this unit that have been addressed to encourage children to fully understand the topic.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for statistics: Code Crackers

In Year 5 statistics, the focus is on line graphs and more complex tables. This worksheet encourages children to read and interpret line graphs and tables in order to answer retrieval, comparison and sum calculations with the ultimate reward of finding the answer to a Halloween themed joke.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for statistics: Worked Examples

Although children will be familiar with line graphs and tables, they are still likely to make errors, especially when reading line graphs with more than one set of data. This worksheet addresses these common errors while allowing the children to ‘be the teacher’.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for converting units: Worked Examples

In previous years, children will have looked at converting units (for example centimetres to metres), however in Year 5, this is a unit of its own. This worked examples worksheet on converting units covers converting between metric units of measures, metric and imperial units of measures, converting between units of time and reading a timetable.

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for converting units: Code Crackers

There are a lot of facts to remember when learning about converting units. This fun worksheet recaps the key facts of converting between metric units of measure (including converting between units of time).

## Year 5 Maths Worksheets for converting units: Independent Recap

These easy to follow independent recap worksheets cover a range of converting units content to help secure children’s understanding of the topic. The worksheets include converting between units of metric measures, converting between metric and imperial units, converting between units of time and reading timetables.

## Year 5 Maths Test: All topics

As a child gets closer to Year 6 and the Key Stage 2 SATs, it’s important they get used to the timings and styles of questions they might face. Our Year 5 maths tests includes two assessments – one arithmetic paper and one reasoning paper – with SATS style questions created by our curriculum experts, answers and a mark scheme with detailed explanations of how to solve each question.

Both papers should take about one hour to complete, and cover every part of the curriculum, from place value to geometry and 3d shapes. This makes them useful for checking children’s overall understanding of the maths they’ve learned in Year 5, as well as providing them with exam practice.

## Year 5 Maths Test: Times Tables

While Year 5 children are past the newly introduced multiplication tables check, knowing your times tables is a key part of many other maths topics they will learn. So it’s always worth keeping up with practice, and these quick worksheets help a child see exactly which ones they know by heart, and which they struggle with.

Week Beginning 13th July

We are now in to the final week of term in what has been an extraordinary year for the children and adults in school. I would just like to say a massive thank you for your efforts with the children at home: I recognise that many of you have been trying to juggle your own work and home schooling your children which, from my own experience, is not easy. I hope that those children who have been attending school as key worker children or came to the transition session have enjoyed the small piece of normality they had. In September, providing the situation is the same, we will be returning to full time education and children can resume their education in school.

This week, I have not included any specific Maths or English work for children to complete. I have included 2 projects that may wish to complete instead which involve a number of skills and allow children to be creative and make their own decisions. The three tasks are:

1. Design your own Zoo involving working out your own costings and managing finances.

2. Designing your own Rollercoaster involving building and constructing a Rollercoaster then testing it out with a marble.

The instructions for each task are included in the documents below-it would be great to see some of your ideas and designs.

If you would like some more specific maths and English work then please contact me via the [email protected]

• Design and Build Your Own Rollercoaster Design Sheets.pdf
• Design and Build Your Own Rollercoaster PowerPoint to show the children.pptx
• Design and Build Your Own Rollercoaster-Guidance.pdf

• KS2 - Design a zoo with a budget.pdf

If children would like to do some art this week, the following videos give step by step instructions about how to draw different objects and figures. There are a lot more than I have included-the links below were completed by children in school this week who really enjoyed it.

• Comprehension 1
• Comprehension 2
• Comprehension 3
• Comprehension 4

Week Beginning 6th July

I hope you are all well and I am looking forward to seeing you next week for your transition session in school. This week's learning is available on  https://classroom.thenational.academy/schedule-by-year/year-5 . There is also some additional maths and comprehensions below if you would prefer to do those instead. Keep up your hard work and use [email protected] if you need to contact me.

We have also provided additional maths from the White Rose website which children could work through as an alternative. There are also some comprehensions that children could complete as an alternative. If you need any support or advice, please contact me through the [email protected]

If you are struggling to access any of the work on the website, please contact me and I will provide some learning packs.

Thank you again for all your efforts.

Afternoon learning-week beginning 22nd June

This week I would like children to do some learning about the continents and what lies within them.

Children are to use the map below and locate the following countries listed at the bottom of the map. They must also name the continent that each country is located in.

Using this link:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p07dzjwl/seven-worlds-one-planet  Children are to choose one continent and design a fact file/presentation about the wildlife and natural environments for that continent. The videos will have lots of information so they should choose carefully.

Children are to locate the New 7 Wonders (list attached) of the World on their map. They are to then fill in the table with the Background information.

Children are to use the Task 4 sheet. They are to choose one continent (Not Antarctica ) and answer the questions on the sheet. If they do this quickly they can choose a different continent.

• Task 3-7 wonders of the world.docx

Week Beginning 15th June

Hi, I hope you are all well and managing to juggle the children's learning with the demands of life at the moment. I really do enjoy looking at the work that children complete so please keep it coming in via the class email. I have also set up 'Class Dojo' for the children and work can be submitted through that as well. I have emailed most parents with a link to register their child, if you have not had an invitation, please email [email protected] and i will send you a link .

This week and moving forward, the learning will be set through the Oak Academy website.   www.classroom.thenational.academy/schedule-by-year/year-5/

The website is set up as a daily sequence of lessons. Everyday, there is a series of lessons in different subjects displayed on the link above and children can click the lesson they want to complete.

After clicking the lesson, there will be a video explanation from a teacher that talks the children through the lesson and the activities they need to complete. The lessons are usually in 4 parts:

1. Introductory Quiz

2. Explanatory Video

4. Final Quiz

Any work completed can be sent through to the [email protected] email address. I would welcome any feedback about the Oak Academy resource as we move forward. I have also attached the White Rose maths activities and link if children prefer to continue with these activities.

Thank you for your continued support-these are very challenging times for all children (and parents!) but we can only do our best and plans are already being made on how children can be supported further when they return to school.

We are also trialling the use of Oak Academy English Lessons. It is up to you which you access for this week. These lessons are good as they have a teacher video to accompany them. They do not link to the 5 English lessons above and are something different but they are suitable for Y5. This week children are writing a set of instructions. They are sequenced so children will need to complete them in the order below.

Welcome Back!

Week Beginning 1st June

Hi everyone. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable break. As these uncertain times continue, we will carry on providing home learning activities on the website for those children who are not in school. Hopefully, one day soon, we will see all the children in school but in the meantime we are thankful and appreciate all the efforts of parents and carers to educate their children at home. We fully understand that working with your children while, in many cases, trying to work yourselves is difficult. We are always here to help and can be contacted through the class email address  [email protected]  or by phone. So. keep up your efforts! We are really proud of the children and have really enjoyed seeing their work and hearing your comments about their achievements.

The maths learning this week is from the White Rose website  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/ . The accompanying worksheets are below with the answers.

The afternoon learning this week will be a project that children can work through gradually. They are tasked with designing a theme park, including the organisation of money and spacing attractions and other features out. They do not need to complete all of it: the idea is that children can be creative and be introduced to planning and organising money in a fun way that they can be in charge of.  Hope you all enjoy!

Afternoon Learning-Week Beginning 11th May

This week, I would like children to look at the work of the Austrian artist Hundertwasser. The documents below show works by Hundertwasser-you will see that he did not believe in straight lines and would draw buildings in his own unique way. The children have 5 activities to do this week relating to Hundertwasser.

The activities are:

• Research the life and works of Hundertwasser
• Look at the pictures in the documents and write down or label parts that you like and why. Which parts are effective and which are not.
• Sit in your garden and draw any building that you can see in the style of Hundertwasser. Remember, he doesn't use straight lines.
• When you have done your drawings, experiment on them with different colours. Remember Hundertwasser did not use traditional colours.
• Choose any building and create a larger final drawing with colour in the style of Hundertwasser.

Week beginning Monday 27th April

I hope you all had a good weekend.  Here is the learning for this week for Maths and English. We have also published a timetable at the top of the class page that you may choose to follow in order to structure the children's learning for day. Please remember that I am available on the [email protected] email if you need any support or would like to share work.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/  This week's maths focuses on adding and subtracting decimals. There are some further challenges focusing around adding and subtracting decimals below. Afternoon Learning-Climate Change-Week Beginning 27th April

I would like children to think back to their learning on climate change from earlier in the year. There is a different task for children to work on each day. I have left Friday free in case children need to finish off or have ran out of time. Please encourage children to do their own research and display ideas in creative ways.

Monday 27th April- Children are to research a well known climate change activist (e.g. Greta Thunberg) and create a factfile about them.

Tuesday 28th April- Children are to create a piece of art/model about what will happen if we do not act on climate change. They may chose to do a before and after idea OR a picture celebrating some of the natural beauty in the world.

Wednesday 29th April- Children are to write a letter to Boris Johnson explaining some of their ideas that he could use to help reduce climate change.

Thursday 30th April- Children are to design a poster that can be displayed somewhere reminding that about what they can do to slow down or stop climate change.

Welcome back and we hope you all enjoyed your Easter break. We're glad that you had such lovely weather. Well done to everyone for their efforts before the break and please keep up your efforts. Remember some of the daily activities that children can do include:

• Joe Wicks fitness workout
• Times Table rockstars
• Reading (something they are interested in)

As well as this, children have packs of work that they may wish to work through as well.

Monday 20th April

The task this week is for children to add and subtract decimals. Children may wish to make their own counters to help them and/or use a place value chart.

• Commas Powerpoint with audio
• Noun Phrase Powerpoint with audio
• Year 5 Day 1
• Year 5 Day 2

Science and Geography-Week Beginning 30th March

Science- This week I would like children to investigate the difference between reversible and irreversible change. Using the internet or practical examples, I would like them to create a poster with a definition of reversible and irreversible change and some real life examples of where they might see them in their own lives.

Geography-  This week in geography I would like children to find out the three states of a volcano. I would then then like them to find out about why a volcano suddenly erupts. If they would like to use an example of a recent eruption then that would be great!!

Here is a useful website:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z849q6f/articles/zd9cxyc

Week Beginning 30th March

Last week, children completed some home learning from the White Rose Maths Hub website. This week the sessions focus on rounding decimals. We have covered rounding to 10, 100, 1000 but not decimals so this will be good for children to have a go at. The link is:

There is an instructional video and then a worksheet that focuses on the video. I have also attached a document with some other rounding questions that are more challenging.

I have also attached a place value chart that may be helpful.

• rounding decimals-extra challenge.docx
• Place Value Chart-thousandths.doc
• Writing Help Week 2

In Science, we are due to look at properties of materials. I have attached a knowledge organiser with some of they key learning on.

Today's task can be for them to investigate dissolving. They could investigate the following:

• What is dissolving?
• What substances dissolve and which do not? (practical activity maybe??)
• What affects the rate that substances dissolve?
• Can i get a substance back when it has dissolved?

Here are a couple of websites that might help the children:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zcvv4wx/articles/zpbdpbk

Feel free to email or post on the blog-i have set a post up for your pictures and comments.

• properties of materials-knowledge organiser.pdf

Children may have done some research about a volcano that erupted in Iceland recently. Today's task is for children to be an estate agent and try and persuade me why i should buy a house near recently erupted volcano.   Children should try and give as many reasons as they can that explain why living next to a recently volcano is a good idea.

Children can present this in whatever form they like.

I look forward to your responses.

Week Beginning- Monday 23rd March

This week in maths I am asking that children complete the activities on the website above. For each day, there is an introductory video and then a worksheet that accompanies the video (and answers). Children can work through this a day at a time.

I will also attach an end of week quiz/task that has different questions all focusing on the topic being taught.

Please continue to send emails to the class address with completed work and/or questions.

## Think you know what the top scam of 2023 was? Take a guess

Every day people report to the FTC the scams they spot. Every year, the FTC shares the information we collect in a data book which tells a story about the top scams people tell us about – so we can all spot and avoid them.

The Data Book tells us that people lost \$10 billion to scams in 2023. That’s \$1 billion more than 2022 and the highest ever in reported losses to the FTC – even though the number of reports (2.6 million) was about the same as last year. One in four people reported losing money to scams, with a median loss of \$500 per person. And email was the #1 contact method for scammers this year, especially when scammers pretended to be a business or government agency to steal money.

Here are other takeaways for 2023:

• Imposter scams. Imposter scams remained the top fraud category, with reported losses of \$2.7 billion. These scams include people pretending to be your bank’s fraud department, the government, a relative in distress, a well-known business, or a technical support expert.
• Investment scams . While investment-related scams were the fourth most-reported fraud category, losses in this category grew. People reported median losses of \$7.7K – up from \$5K in 2022.
• Social media scams . Scams starting on social media accounted for the highest total losses at \$1.4 billion – an increase of 250 million from 2022. But scams that started by a phone call caused the highest per-person loss (\$1,480 average loss).
• Payment methods . How did scammers prefer that people pay? With bank transfers and payments, which accounted for the highest losses (\$1.86 billion). Cryptocurrency is a close second (\$1.41 billion reported in losses).
• Losses by age . Of people who reported their age, younger adults (20-29) reported losing money more often than older adults (70+). However, when older adults lost money, they lost the most.

Check out the graphic for the top scams of 2023. Read the 2023 Data Book for more details and to learn what happened in your state.

Thank you for sharing information that I was not aware of. When people take pleasure in being deceitful! You can no longer trust in laws (especially) or your own family. The more J know the more I am aware of protecting myself and helping others as well!!

I think Congress should pass a bill to penalize the scammers.

In reply to I think Congress should pass… by Hi Nguyen

Thoroughly agree with Nguyen- scammers should be punished/penalized for their crimes. If Congress is required to do so, then Congress should pass the necessary laws to make this happen. Peter

In reply to Thoroughly agree with Nguyen… by Peter

You’re right

I think there are laws but the problem is finding out who and where they are.

Yes definitely they should put them in jail longer than other crimes because it affects you mentally and socially more than a in person crime . This is because you do not know in reality who did the scam. The scammers are working with the person in the scam to rob you. Is gang stalking.

Can’t penalize foreign nationals who reside in foreign countries unfortunately

what a great idea. Robocalling already is illegal but doesnt seem to stop them. MOST coming from Jamacia. Only reason I know that is b.c I did the no no of calling back and it was on my phone bill

Thank you for the information!

I’m surprised that text messages wasn’t listed as a means of fraud or attempted fraud. I get phishing texts the most, followed by phone calls. Lately, I’ve received a few emails with a PDF attachment that is an alleged invoice. I don’t open it. It’s very interesting to watch the scammers attempts to get information or money from me. I’m already a victim of identity theft due to some major data breaches in 2021 to current, so I’m especially careful.

In reply to I’m surprised that text… by MN

Absolutely agree with MN. The phone calls start at 8:30 AM with so-called Medicare plans, or now it's Credit help! 99% of the time I don't answer. It doesn't stop there text comes in with "Hello how are you?" From some unknown number. I print them out in the event that someday I can help catch these creeps.

I've been gettng over 50 "lewd and suggestive" emails every day. I have blocked these and as of this morning there were over 199. Can this list be sent directly? They are insulting, and I would rather forward this to you, if possible.

Enid Hurwitz

In reply to I've been gettng over 50 … by Enid Hurwitz

call the opt out # for robocalls.... google it, it's everywhere... there must be an opt out for spam emails also. ask FTC and FCC and any other agency to report. This may stop it completely...if you're serious. sounds awful. good luck!

Thank you. Very important info!

So, My comment is simple---why isn't there more done to stop this? You have the most sophisticated people people working within the US---there should be a cure for this--shame on America for not having the answer!!!

In reply to So, My comment is simple--… by Deborah K Grimm

if this govt wold only pay folks like Snowden more than they've already made, have him and those like him work for the gov, we'd be In much better shape.

I have brighten a few items on line and got scared. It is hard to tell the difference between a legit company and a phoney one.

My 90 year old trusting and naive Mom has been sending 50 + small checks a month to various 'non-profits' associated with USA Cash Draw and other socalled million dollar sweepstakes. The operation is associated with many unfamiliar 'non-profits', giving her the idea that she is helping folks while assuring she will win at least one of the 20,000 prizes. She does not read the fine print, which has a deadline for a specific draw. However, she is already in the habit of sending 'gifts'. Examples are Citizens behind the badge, advancing American freedom, Fund for integrative Cancer treatment and some familiar ones like Am Against Drug abuse.

A second issue is all the political solicitations (she gets six to 12 inch stacks of mail per day. Some scare tactics of Lawyers requesting money - "they have put her on an important congressional committee" that leads her to believe without her money the political job wont get done. I think This is abusive of her and misuse/disrespectful of free speech. Nevertheless, being a generious person and wanting to help, all the solicitation become a burden and upsetting to this senior. Help!

Thank you Patricia Sargent

thanks for the great work you do....I am seeing lots of iCloud scammers trying to get me to reply to emails saying I have won a prize from big name companies like CVS, Lowes, etc .,,, I delete but would like to start reporting these....I am trying but can't figure out an easy way to report these scammers.

In reply to thanks for the great work… by Bess H Parks

Most big companies have email addresses you can forward scam emails to. You can open the companies' legit webpage & search for scam addresses or customer service. Always good to report to FTC as well.

I would add aggressive sales practices from car dealers to the list, the CARS act does not go far enough to protect consumers.

Publishers clearing house scammers keep calling my home. I cuss them out, hang up on them, etc. and it doesn't stop them from calling.

Thought ID theft has highest losses. ?

Why don't we have a govenment service to locate, arrest and shut them down.

Thank you for this information. We seniors are particularly vulnerable to scammers, and this helps us a lot.

I just contacted the FTC because I got a scam e-mail telling me my Social Security Number was used for Drug Trafficking in Texas and New Mexico! I don't even live anywhere these states! FYI... NEVER click on or open these scam e-mails!

I hope law enforcement is treating this like the huge crime wave it is. It is more than an inconvenience or annoyance. I hear stories of people loosing their life savings.

I report most of the email scams, but it takes time. It would be much easier if your program would allow us to forward these without going through the reporting portal. It is a constant battle. I have a call screen on my phone so never answer something I don't recognize, but I have seen texts that I have to block as I know they are scams. There really needs to be a crack down task force working on this. Lots of them are from out of the country.

Emails for payments to Geek Squad, Renewal charges for anti-virus programs like McAfee & Norton, I've dumped & blocked hundreds of them.

It is basically impossible to block the spam emails. Yes, they can be reported to the FTC but only individually, and the form is time consuming. EVERY spam email will have a different phony “From” email, even if there are multiple ones that appear to be from the same sender with same subject matter. There is absolutely no way to stop them. All advice says to just delete them - don’t open or reply. I was getting over 1000 spam emails daily, but interestingly that dropped to about 100-150 daily when I got a new phone. I check and group delete several times a day. Text messages (phone numbers) can at least be blocked. I also refuse cookies or modify them to “strictly necessary”; turning off all marketing and promotional settings. I agree that more aggressive measures are needed.

I have been getting emails from different vendors like Norton security thanking me for the purchase of their service on the day and time of the transaction mostly everyday with different names on them with a phone number for me to call them if I have any questions of the transaction. I just delete them and I have not reported them yet but I will now. Another thing that I have experienced is mostly all the people who walk in front of my door to try to sell some product or service without any proof of the company they represent are fraud and try to get my name and phone number for them to call me later but I do not give it to them. I do not trust no one at all. I get phone calls wanting to know if I have any Master Card and ask me to give them my name and date of birth to make sure it is me and I just hang up on them. I hope this helps somebody and make sure to put a Fraud Alert on your credit report with any of the 3 Credit Bureaus Like Experian.

Consumer education has no chance against fear and greed so ignorance and naivete will continue. Perhaps if the telco's had strong protection against SIM swaps and banks provided more than the weakest forms of 2FA we might have a fighting chance before the data brokers sell our PII to anyone with a credit card.

Please include Scam GAMES claiming PayPal or Cash App payouts. I've followed the game rules and watched HUNDREDS of ads, and as soon as I reached enough to get paid, the site stalls never to reopen, or they want you to do tasks, like spin the wheel 100 times and the error page pops up saying come back tomorrow day after day... granted all that is lost is time, but time is money!

Someone called me today at 5:28 PM, on February 14th, from: caller ID; YELLOWST, 1-307-227-9080, and ask if this was Stephen? They said "Stephen, is this Stephen", I replied "yes this is Stephen". They said then "have a good rest of your day" and abruptly hung up. I searched the number on the internet to try to find out who it was, could not find anything out without paying a fee. So I called them back within about three minutes, it rang a few times then went to a busy signal, I tried twice later that same evening, and got the same answer. I am wondering what kind of scam this is.
