How to change your status in microsoft teams.

Tell your colleagues when you're busy by setting your status in Microsoft Teams.

When you're working remotely, you need to let people know if you're available or not. Microsoft Teams has a visible status you can change depending on your availability so your colleagues know whether they can bother you or not.

Your status is displayed as a colored circle next to your profile. You can see this at all times in the top-right corner of Teams.

You can also see a person's status in their profile next to a chat.

Microsoft Teams will change your status automatically under certain circumstances, such as when you're in a meeting or video call, or if you've been inactive for a period of time. But you can also change it manually as well.

To do this, click on your profile in the top-right corner of the Teams application, select your current status, and change your status to whatever you want.

You can also set how long you want to remain in a particular status by clicking "Duration."

Choose the status that you want and how long you want to remain in that status.

Your status will automatically change back to "Available" when the duration is complete (or "Busy" if the end of the duration is at a time when you're in a meeting or call).

You can also change your status from the Search box at the top of Microsoft Teams by typing in one of the following commands:

/available: Sets your status to Available
/busy: Sets your status to Busy
/dnd: Sets your status to Do not disturb
/brb: Sets your status to Be right back
/away: Sets your status to Away
/offline: Sets your status to Appear offline

If you like a keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+e will take you to the search box. So, to set your status to "Do not disturb" without leaving your keyboard, it's Ctrl+e, followed by "/dnd."

However, you can't set a duration in the Search box, so if you want to automatically change back to "Available" at a certain time, you'll have to use your mouse.

The different statuses are fairly self-explanatory, but there are a few useful things to know.

Available: (The green circle) is the default status when you are logged in to Teams and are not in a meeting or call. If you lock your device or are idle for a long time, Teams will automatically change your status to "Away." If you're using Teams on a phone or tablet, Teams will also change your status to "Away" when you're using a different app and Teams is in the background.

Busy: (The red circle) is the status Teams will automatically change you to when you

are on a call or in a meeting, as long as you haven't set your status to "Do not disturb" (in which case you will stay in "Do not disturb"). You'll still get notifications when you're set to Busy.

Do not disturb: (The red circle with the white bar across it) will prevent notifications from popping up. Teams will never change your status from "Do not disturb," so you'll need to remember to change it back to "Available" yourself.

Be right back: (The yellow circle) indicates that you're temporarily away and will be back soon. It looks identical to "Away," but when your colleagues hover over your profile, they'll see that you're set to "Be right back" rather than "Away."

Appear away: (The yellow circle) is identical to "Away" and "Be right back," and gives other people the impression that Teams doesn't have your focus. You'll still get message notifications.

Appear offline: (The white circle with an "x" in it) gives other people the impression that you're not signed in to Teams. You'll still get message notifications. As with "Appear away," you need to make sure that this won't give the impression that you're not actually working, so perhaps discuss it with the rest of your team and manager so that you'll all use it in the same way.

On Windows 10, the Microsoft Teams app allows you to set a specific status to let other people know your availability when using the service.

When using the Teams app on Windows 10 , you can have two types of status, including a little badge that appears on your profile icon to make sure that your colleagues know that you're "away," "busy," or "offline." And you can set a custom status message that will appear to anyone who sends you a direct message or mentions you in a team.

Also, the app includes an option to follow people's availability status to receive a notification when a specific person is available or not.

To change the status on Teams, use these steps:

Open Microsoft Teams .
Click the profile button on the top-right corner.
Click the status menu (the first option under your account name).
Available: You're signed in the service, and there's nothing on the calendar. If you lock your device or send it into sleep mode or it becomes idle, Microsoft Teams will automatically change the status to Away .
Busy: You're actively working on something specific, and you don't want notifications to break your workflow. If you're in a call or meeting, Microsoft Teams will change the status to In a call or In a meeting automatically.
Do not disturb: You're actively working on the device, and you want to suppress all notifications.
Be right back: You're signed in, but you need to temporarily step away from the device.
Appear away: You're signed in and working, and you'll respond at a later time.
Appear offline: You're signed in and working, but other people will see you as if you were not logged in.
(Optional) Select the Reset status option to revert the status to the default setting.

Once you complete the steps, a small dot indicating your availability will appear in your profile icon.

To show a custom status message on Teams, use these steps:

Click the Set status message option.
Compose a status message. Quick tip: You can also use the "@" to mention someone in the status.
(Optional) Check the Show when people message me option.
Use the Clear status message after the drop-down menu and select a time range. Quick tip: Use the Custom option to set a more specific time range.
Click the Done button.

After you complete the steps, the status message will appear above the compose box when anyone sends you a direct or mention message. If you want to remove the message before the time expires, in the profile menu, you can click the delete (trash) icon.

To follow a person's availability status on Teams, use these steps:

Click on Settings .
Click on Notifications .
Under the "People" section, click the Edit button.
Specify the name of the people you want to follow. Quick tip: If you want to stop getting these types of notifications, click the Turn off button next to the person.

Once you complete the steps, you'll get a notification when the person appears available or offline.

Microsoft Teams Status: What They Mean and How to Change

Microsoft Teams has a Status feature where you can set your status, allowing other users or team members to know essentially if it is okay to message/contact you. Microsoft Teams has a number of status icons and messages to choose from and you can also create and set a custom status message if need be. I will break down what each status icon means on Microsoft Teams and how to change your Microsoft Teams status message on desktop and mobile.

How Microsoft Teams Status Message Work

A status is a non-verbal and non-intrusive way to let other team members know whether you are available to chat, busy with work, or traveling for example. Your status is displayed next to your profile picture and name to all the other team members who are using Teams desktop or mobile app except members that you have blocked on Teams .

You can either choose one of the existing status messages or create your own that caters to your situation or work for you. You can also set a timer for the status. After the set duration ends, the status will be updated automatically. Useful when you know how long you will be out. One example can be a meeting that you know will last 30 minutes only.

What Teams Status Message Means

There are a couple of statuses to choose from. Each status is denoted by a colored dot icon which makes it easier to remember and identify status as they are consistent for all profiles. Here they are in the order they appear on Teams app and their meaning:

Available – you are online and available to chat on Teams app. You also do not have any meetings or events on your Calendar.

Note: If you lock your computer or the computer goes to sleep or idle mode, your Teams status will change from Available to Away automatically. On mobile apps, the same will happen when the Teams app is in the background.

Busy – use this status on Teams if you are working and don’t want to be disturbed. You will continue to receive notifications and will be alerted of the same too. However, if you are on a call or meeting, your status will change to In a meeting or In a call automatically.
DND or Do Not Disturb – use this status when you don’t want to receive any notifications at all and don’t want to be disturbed at all.
BRB or Be Right Back – it means you are gone momentarily and will be back at your desk soon.
Appear away – use this status when you want to work on something and do not wish to respond to notifications or messages right away.
Appear offline – when you are not signed in to Teams app and so can’t take messages. You will still receive notifications though.

How to Change Microsoft Teams Status Settings

Microsoft Teams is available on both mobile, desktop, and also web browsers. Since the UI is consistent, we will cover only browser (same as Windows and macOS) and iOS (same as Android) here.

Change Teams Status on Browser or Desktop

1. Open Teams desktop app or the web app in your favorite browser.

2. Click on your profile picture at the upper right corner of the screen.

3. From the drop-down menu, select a status and it will reflect on your profile immediately. All other team members will now see this status on your profile or next to your name everywhere on Teams app.

Change Teams Status on Mobile App

The steps to update Teams profile status is the same for both Android and iOS but I will be using the latter for this guide.

1. Open Teams app.

2. Tap on your profile icon in the upper left corner and tap on the current status to view a list of all available status options.

3. Now tap to select one of the options to set it as your status.

How to Set Duration of Status on Teams

As discussed above, you can choose a status to appear for a set amount of time. After that duration, the status will revert to the original status (the one before the duration was set) automatically.

1. Open Teams app and go to Status as shown in the previous steps. Now click on Duration option from the status drop-down menu.

2. Open the drop-down menu below Reset status after menu and choose a time duration. Click on Custom at the bottom to choose a date and time when the status will revert.

3. Click on Done button when you are happy with both the status selected and the time set for Microsoft Teams.

How to Set Custom Status Message in Teams

If you are not happy with one of the default status messages, you can also set a customized message that will provide further clarity on what you are up to.

1. Open Teams app and go back to profile icon where you update your status. Click on Set status message right under your name.

2. Type of custom message here. You can also use @name operator to notify a specific user, like your superior or boss, about the change in your status.

3. Check Show when people message me option if you want the custom status message to appear right above the Compose message box when someone is typing a message to you (DM) or @mentioning you in a group.

4. Set a timer or schedule the custom Teams status message and then click on Done when you are ready to save changes.

1. Do others receive a notification when I change or update my status on Teams app?

Yes and no. Nobody will receive a notification when you update your status except the person that you @name in the custom status message section.

2. What about Outlook integration and status updates in the Outlook app?

Although video conferencing solutions have provided a much-needed method for facilitating remote collaboration , they have also made it difficult to focus. Sometimes, you just need a moment or two to reply to emails or get on with a solitary project.

If that’s an experience you’ve been through, there’s a way to update your Microsoft Teams activity status to ensure that potential callers know when you’re available and when you’re not. As long as you ensure this is always up to date, you should be able to guarantee that Teams is only a help to your productivity levels, not a hindrance. If you want to know how, follow these steps below:

Before your go tinkering with your Teams activity status, it’s important you fully understand what you’ve currently got it set as. The little colored dot next to your profile shows your availability and can be set to: “Available”, “Busy”, “Do not disturb”, “Be right back”, “Appear away”, or “Appear offline”.

“Available” tells other users that you are active in Teams and don’t have any other appointments in your calendar. Don’t worry about switching from “Available” when you’ve powered your computer down either. Teams automatically sets your status to “Away” whenever your device is locked, in sleep mode, or shut down.

“Busy” is the right status to choose if you want to concentrate on something but still want to receive Teams notifications. “Do not disturb,” on the other hand, should be your status when you don’t want notifications to appear.

“Be right back” is never set automatically by Teams but can be used to inform other users that you are only going to be away from the platform for a brief period. “Appear away,” meanwhile gives you some breathing space if you don’t want to respond to messages right away. While “Appear offline” means you will appear as though you are not signed in to Teams but will still receive notifications.

There are a few different ways of manually changing your status in Teams. The first, and easiest, is to simply click on your profile. This will present you with the six options mentioned above. Simply click the one you want and you’re good to go. The same drop-down will also let you set a duration for your chosen status, so if you know you’re going on a one-hour lunch break, you can ensure that you are set up as “Available” when you return. You can also select “Reset status” if you want Teams to resume autiomatically setting your status based on your activity.

For mobile users, setting your Teams status is also straightforward. Simply select “Menu” and then click on your current status to see the same options that you have access to with the desktop version. For anyone that prefers things to be a little more complicated, however, your Teams status can be set using the command line. If you type, /available, /busy, /dnd, /brb, /away, or /offline, you can set your activity status to the relevant category.

It’s worth noting that there’s more to your Microsoft Teams status than simply changing the color of that little dot next to your profile picture. Users can go a step further and actually set a status message to provide a more detailed update on their current availability.

In order to create a status message, go to your profile and click on “Set Status Message”. You can then type out the status update of your choosing, informing other Teams users that you are, say, at a company conference, an external business meeting, or simply taking the day off. Another major benefit of the status message is that you can tag other Teams users. So if you are going to be unavailable for a fair while, you can tag someone using the “@” symbol, notifying other users to contact them in your absence instead.

Status messages have a maximum character limit of 280 and can be accompanied by a set timeframe for expiration. If a status message is still in use, however, it will prove difficult to miss. It is displayed above the conversation box when you start a one-to-one chat with the relevant individual, whenever you @ that person, or when you click on their contact card.

If you collaborate with one particular individual frequently, it might be useful to receive regular updates on their availability. If you want to be sent notifications informing you of a specific user’s status, click on “Settings” under your profile in the top-right corner of the screen.

Then, click on “Notifications” and under “People” select the “Edit” function. From here you can specify the names of any people that you would like to follow. Once they’ve been added, you’ll receive notifications any time they set their status to “Available” or “Offline.” If these notifications are no longer useful for a particular individual, simply click the “Turn off” button next to the person in question.

When you are working from the office, anyone can check your physical cubie and see if you are available or not. But what about virtual workspace? Software solutions like Microsoft Teams and Slack allow you to set status so that your colleagues can know about your availability. Here’s how you can change status in Microsoft Teams.

Setting availability status during working hours gives a clear idea for others to interact with you. The ability to change Microsoft Teams’ status is available on both the desktop and mobile. We will cover them in the post. But first, we will start with Microsoft Teams Windows and Mac apps.

Microsoft Teams Desktop App

It’s quite easy to change status in Microsoft Teams. Follow the steps below to learn how to change status in Microsoft Teams and what options are available to use as Teams status.

Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams on Windows or Mac.

Step 2: Click on the Account menu in the upper right corner.

Step 3: You will see your name with your profile picture. Glance below and check your current status.

Step 4: Click on your current status and it will open a context menu to change Teams status. Let’s check them in detail.

Available: Indicated as the green checkmark, it’s the default Teams status when you log in to the app. Available status means the person isn’t in a meeting or call and has the desktop app active for now. Once you move to a mobile app or keep the device in sleep mode, the status will change to Away in Teams.

Busy: As soon as you get yourself busy in a call or meeting, Teams will change status to Busy showing a red circle. You will still receive notifications if someone messages you.

Do not disturb: Be careful while using Do not disturb status in Teams. For once, Microsoft will never change status automatically when you are in DND mode. It will block all messages and notifications until you change DND status in Teams.

Be right back: Displayed as a yellow mark, Be right back suggests that you are away from your desk temporarily, and you should be available to reply in a couple of minutes.

Appear away: Appear away means you are not actively concentrated on the Teams app. Maybe the app is open in the background, and you are busy doing other stuff on your computer. You will continue to get messages.

This is helpful when you research or make a presentation and don’t want your colleagues to disturb you during these hours.

Appear offline: If you are not signed into the Teams app on the desktop, the app will showcase Appear offline status. It indicates that you are not working as of now. You will get all Teams’ messages during this period.

Now that you know what each Teams status stands for, you can select a relevant status based on your condition and preference.

Microsoft has added another neat function that automates your status in the Teams software. Here’s how you can use it.

Step 1: Open the Teams app on Windows or Mac click on the Profile menu at the top.

Step 2: Click on your current status and select Duration.

Step 3: Select status and set duration for the status.

Maybe you are not available for a week. You can select Do not disturb and set This week from the Reset status after menu. Or maybe you are out for an hour for lunch. Use the Duration menu and automate status.

Once the duration is over, Teams will reset the status to Available.

Microsoft Teams Status Shortcut

You can also use quick keyboard shortcuts to set status in Microsoft Teams. Simply hit Command + E (on Mac) or Ctrl + E (on Windows) and access the search box at the top. Now use the following commands to set status in Teams.

/available: Changes your status to Available
/busy: Sets your status to Busy
/dnd: Activates Do not disturb status
/brb: Changes your status to Be right back
/away: Sets your status to Away
/offline: Sets your status to Appear offline

Microsoft Teams Mobile App

If you are on the go and forgot to change status from the Teams desktop app, you can do so using the Teams mobile app.

Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams on iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Tap on the profile icon at the top.

Step 3: Tap on the status and select new status from the drop-down menu.

Set a Correct Status

If you are Busy or Away from your work from home setup, it’s always advisable to set a status accordingly. After all, you won’t want to get bombarded with tons of Teams messages when you are busy with other stuff.

Your status gives other Teams users an at-a-glance indication of whether you're available to chat, busy in a meeting, or just temporarily away for a few minutes.

You can see your current status represented by an icon next to your profile picture in the upper-right corner. By default, your status is listed as "Available." Teams will automatically change your status when you're idle, in a meeting, or on a call.

Set a New Status

While Teams will automatically change your status when you’re busy or away, you can also manually set it.

Click your profile picture in the upper right.

A status menu appears, with several statuses to choose from.

Manually setting your status will prevent Teams from automatically setting it based on your activity.

Reset Your Status

Once you no longer need the status that you have manually set, you can reset it so that Teams will resume automatically setting it.

Your status is reset to Available and will change automatically based on your activity.

Set a Status Message

You can also set a custom status message to provide some extra information to your colleagues—for example, if you're working from home instead of the office.

Enter a message in the text field.
Click the Clear status message after list arrow.

You can select one of the automatic options or select Custom and set another time. You can also select Never to keep your status until you clear it.

To clear a custom status manually, click your profile picture in the upper right and click the Delete this status message button.

2. Log into your account by entering your username and password .

3. Click on your Profile icon .

4. Finally, click on your current status below your name and choose available from the list.

Method 2: Use Status Message

One easy way to make other participants know that you are available is by settings a status message such as available or contact me, I am available. However, this is just a workaround that you can use as it is not really going to keep your Microsoft team status green when your PC, or device enters into idle or sleep mode.

1. Open the Microsoft Teams app or use the web version . In our case, we are using the web version.

2. Log into your Teams account by using your username and password.

3. Now, click on your Profile icon from the top-right corner of the screen.

4. Click on ‘Set status message.’

Method 3: Use third-party software or tools

Since Microsoft teams change your status to away when your PC enters into sleep mode, or you are using the platform in the background. In this situation, you can use third-party software and tools that keep your cursor moving on your screen to prevent the PC from entering into sleep mode. Hi, thank you for step by step process and suggestions. But one thing, when you say, “or you are using the platform in the background.” Many of the suggestions don’t apply when you are using the computer and have MSTeams open but not clicking IN it.

Maybe these tips apply to those not on their computers – who are actually “AWAY”, but the other tips that are for those who are working don’t work either because, where I work, just choose “Available” doesn’t stick past 3-5 minutes. I can set up / join a meeting and choose Available, but I am not positive it really shows that I am available to others. I can only do it once in a session, because sometimes MSTeams won’t allow the Available as a choice. Re-opening the webpage sometimes holds, but not always. thanks!

Presence is part of a user's profile in Microsoft Teams (and throughout Microsoft 365). Presence indicates the user's current availability and status to other users. By default, anyone in any organization using Teams can see (in nearly real time) if other users are available online.

Teams respects your privacy configuration so if you have enabled the privacy mode , your presence isn't visible to people outside the organization.

Presence states in Teams

The order of statuses, from most available to least available, is:

In a meeting
Do not disturb
Be right back

For users that have their mailbox hosted on-prem, presence delays of one hour (maximum) are expected.

Automatic status settings and user experience

App-configured presence states are based on user activity (Available, Away), Outlook calendar states (In a meeting), or Teams app states (In a call, Presenting). When you're in focus mode based on your calendar, Focusing is the state people see in Teams. Focus mode displays as Do not disturb in other products.

Your current presence state changes to Away when you lock your computer or when your computer enters idle or sleep mode. On a mobile device, your presence status changes to Away whenever the Teams app is in the background.

Users receive all chat messages sent to them in Teams regardless of their presence state. If a user is offline when someone sends them a message, the chat message appears in Teams the next time the user is online. If a user state is set to Do not disturb, the user still receives chat messages, but banner notifications aren't displayed.

Users receive calls in all presence states except for Do not disturb, in which incoming calls go to voicemail. If the recipient blocked the caller, the call won't be delivered and the caller sees the recipient's presence as Offline.

Users in a call or in a meeting can select any status and it lasts for the duration of the call or the meeting.

The NCAA's investigation centers around former staffer Connor Stalions, who allegedly bought tickets for more than 30 games -- many of them within the Big Ten -- and used "illegal technology" to steal signs. Stalions resigned from Michigan's staff on Nov. 3 after previously being suspended with pay pending the outcome of the NCAA's investigation. Harbaugh, who has already been entangled with the NCAA , has denied knowledge of the operation.

With Jim Harbaugh now confirmed to serve the entirety of his three-game suspension from the Big Ten, first-year Charlotte coach and former Wolverines assistant Biff Poggi has invited the suspended Michigan coach to join him for the final two weeks of the regular season as a guest on the sidelines. It's not the first time that Poggi has vocally supported his former boss amid the sign-stealing saga in Ann Arbor, though this pitch feels like a bit of a long-shot. A new report from the AP revealed that ex-Michigan analyst Connor Stalions did not file any expense reports while he was employed. The Freedom of Information Act requested by the AP revealed no responsive records of any expense reports filed during his 17-month stint in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Stalions purchased tickets to more than 30 games around the country, sometimes hiring others to record opposing sideline signals.

Jim Harbaugh spoke with reporters Monday for the first time since the Big Ten handed down his suspension, and the Wolverines coach wasn't short on talking points. Harbaugh confirmed he will attend Friday's hearing for the request of a restraining order against the conference and also claimed that he found out about the suspension on social media before receiving direct communication from the Big Ten office, that after the team landed in State College, Pennsylvania, for its Week 11 win at Penn State. Harbaugh also raised some eyebrows by calling the Wolverines' "America's team," a claimed he justified through the perceived adversity Michigan has dealt with amid a perfect 10-0 start.

Michigan legal action not heard before Penn State kickoff

There will be no ruling on the University of Michigan and coach Jim Harbaugh's request for a temporary restraining order halting the three-game suspension handed down by the Big Ten on Friday, according to 247Sports. That means Harbaugh, who traveled with the Wolverines to State College, Pennsylvania, will not be able to coach No. 3 Michigan in a key Big Ten East clash against No. 10 Penn State.

Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore will step in as acting coach just as he did earlier this season when Harbaugh served a three-game suspension to start the 2023 campaign.

An in-person hearing scheduled for Nov. 17 prior to Michigan's game at Maryland on Nov. 18, according to multiple reports.

NCAA responds to sharing info with Big Ten

It wasn't until after the NCAA shared the findings of its ongoing probe into Michigan's alleged sign-stealing scheme with the Big Ten that the conference ultimately moved to issue a suspension of Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh. The NCAA issued a statement Friday, obtained by Yahoo Sports , in which it clarified why it shared information from an active investigation, noting that it was done with Michigan's consent.

"The NCAA takes competition integrity seriously, and when the Association has reason to raise time-sensitive issues with schools and leagues concerning competitive integrity, it has and will continue to do so," the statement read. "The NCAA received consent from the school before sharing the information referenced in the document. NCAA investigative and infractions processes will continue in this matter."

Michigan to seek court order

Michigan has issued a response to the three-game suspension handed down by the Big Ten, and it is a big one. The school intends to file a court order in the hopes that Harbaugh can remain on the sidelines during games until the case moves through the legal system.

"Like all members of the Big Ten Conference, we are entitled to a fair, deliberate, and thoughtful process to determine the full set of facts before a judgment is rendered. Today's action by Commissioner Tony Petitti disregards the Conference's own handbook, violates basic tenets of due process, and sets an untenable precedent of assessing penalties before an investigation has been completed. We are dismayed at the Commissioner's rush to judgment when there is an ongoing NCAA investigation - one in which we are fully cooperating.

"Commissioner Petitti's hasty action today suggests that this is more about reacting to pressure from other Conference members than a desire to apply the rules fairly and impartially. By taking this action at this hour, the Commissioner is personally inserting himself onto the sidelines and altering the level playing field that he is claiming to preserve. And, doing so on Veteran's Day -- a court holiday -- to try to thwart the University from seeking immediate judicial relief is hardly a profile in impartiality. To ensure fairness in the process, we intend to seek a court order, together with Coach Harbaugh, preventing this disciplinary action from taking effect."

Harbaugh traveling to Penn State as potential suspension looms

Jim Harbaugh will travel with the team to Penn State "one way or another," his attorney Tom Mars told ESPN. This comes as a potential suspension looms for the Michigan coach as a result of the Big Ten's investigation into an alleged sign-stealing scheme. Michigan and the Big Ten have been engaged in a war of words this week. The conference submitted an official notice of disciplinary action Monday. Michigan filed an official 10-page response two days later, contending that discipline from the Big Ten would constitute a "breach" of the conference's handbook and that any specific punishment directed Harbaugh "would exceed the commissioner's authority under the Sportsmanship Policy."

Penn State assistant Manny Diaz pokes fun at Michigan

Manny Diaz, the defensive coordinator for No. 10 Penn State, found a creative way to stoke the flames of this Saturday's key Big Ten East clash against No. 3 Michigan. The Nittany Lions posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) imploring fans to show up early and get loud. Diaz made his appeal by first signing things out.

He first tapped his wrist to signify filling the stadium out early, then put a hand to his ear for crowd noise and finally made a "three" gesture with his hand for third down. This, of course, comes as the NCAA is investigating Michigan for an alleged sign-stealing scheme.

"Those are the signals for 'get there early,' 'be loud,' 'especially on third down,'" Diaz said.

Day, Schiano deny sharing Michigan's signals with Purdue in 2022

The branches of Michigan's sign-stealing scandal have now reached the point to where other Big Ten coaches are denying similar accusations made by the Wolverines. Ohio State and Rutgers, according to evidence submitted by Michigan to the Big Ten this week, allegedly shared the Wolverines' signs and signals with Purdue ahead of the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game. Such allegations were understandably met with firm denials from Buckeyes coach Ryan Day and Scarlet Knights boss Greg Schiano during midweek media availability.

"Nobody here did any of that," Day said. "We went through and made sure we asked all the questions and got our compliance people involved. None of that came back at all. I can answer very strongly that that did not happen."

Harbaugh's attorney issues letter to Big Ten

On top of Michigan's response to the Big Ten, the conference also received a letter Wednesday from Tom Mars, the attorney representing Jim Harbaugh, arguing why the Big Ten can't specifically discipline the Wolverines coach. Mars' letter, obtained by Yahoo Sports, argued both a lack of evidence of and a lack of due process while aligning with Michigan's stance that punishing Harbaugh would exceed the commissioner's authority within the scope of the Big Ten's sportsmanship policy.

Harbaugh has maintained that he never had knowledge of illegal sign-stealing by his staff. While that may have weight concerning the Big Ten's course of action, it would not necessarily clear Harbaugh from NCAA discipline if Michigan is found to be in the wrong by the association. A language change to an NCAA bylaw in January specifies that coaches " shall be held responsible" for the actions of all institutional staff members, so the extent of Harbaugh's involvement in any violations would be a moot point.

Michigan says Big Ten would lack authority to punish Harbaugh

Michigan has issued a response to the Big Ten's notification of potential disciplinary action amid the NCAA's ongoing probe into allegations of illegal sign-stealing. The 10-page letter, obtained by Yahoo Sports, contends that discipline from the Big Ten would constitute a "breach" of the conference's handbook and that any specific punishment directed at coach Jim Harbaugh "would exceed the commissioner's authority under the Sportsmanship Policy."

The letter also includes documents and pictures of Michigan's signs that were allegedly stolen and shared by other Big Ten schools as part of its rebuttal against potential penalties levied by the conference. Disciplinary action, the letter states, would be disproportionate given this evidence.

Technology could end sign stealing for good

Rob Neumann wonders what could have been. The offensive coordinator at Rochester Community and Technical College had just helped lead the Yellowjackets to the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association championship game. Neumann and the staff were ready to take a futuristic next step.

The program based in Rochester, Minnesota, had signed up to use GoRout technology. The fledgling company promised a new wrinkle in transferring plays calls from the sideline. Forget signs, forget helmet communications. Heck, forget those play calls in the conventional sense. The Yellowjackets were going to wear wrist bands that would electronically transmit the next play from the sidelines.

State lawmakers come to Michigan's defense

Michigan state lawmakers have entered the picture as the Big Ten contemplates disciplinary action against Michigan. Eleven legislators penned a letter Wednesday to conference commissioner Tony Petitti, urging him to let due process play out before any potential penalties are levied against the Wolverines. It has been reported that coaches and administrators at other Big Ten institutions have recently urged Petitti to take action against Michigan, although the NCAA's investigation into allegations of illegal sign-stealing by the Wolverines is ongoing.

"As members of the Michigan legislature, we write to you today to urge you to act prudently and refrain from taking premature measures against one of our state universities, including their athletic program, football team or coaching staff," the letter states. "These individuals are our constituents, and we feel the need to ensure they are treated fairly."

Michigan submits response

As expected, Michigan issued a formal response Wednesday afternoon to the Big Ten's notice of potential disciplinary action against the Wolverines, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg . That leaves the ball in Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti's court when it comes to potential action against Michigan regarding allegations of illegal sign-stealing. It's not clear when the final verdict from Petitti and the conference may come if Michigan is indeed found to have violated the conference's sportsmanship policy.

Michigan's response

Michigan is expected to submit a response to the Big Ten on Wednesday as the league weighs potential punishments for the Wolverines, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. But the league isn't expected to make a ruling just yet. Reminder as it pertains to possible coaching suspensions: Michigan's on-field aspirations hang in the balance over the next three weeks. It travels to No. 10 Penn State on Saturday and then plays at Maryland before closing the season with an all-important rivalry showdown against No. 1 Ohio State.

Blake Corum denies being connected to Stalions' LLC

Michigan star running back Blake Corum denied any business dealings with former Wolverines analyst Connor Stalions Tuesday. Earlier in the day Wyoming state documents were discovered listing Corum, Stalions and Connor O'Dea as co-organizers of a "BC2 Housing LLC."

"I know exactly what you're talking about," Corum told reporters. "My first time hearing it was when I went out to practice. First of all, I have no businesses with him. I don't have any business with Connor or anything like that. But I'm glad whoever found it, whoever was searching the web was able to find that. I appreciate you. My attorneys are on it. We'll definitely get that figured out right away and give my name taken off or whatever it is."

Michigan says Ohio State, Rutgers shared Wolverines signs with Purdue

Michigan has submitted evidence to the Big Ten alleging that Ohio State, Rutgers and Purdue shared information about the Wolverines' signals ahead of the Big Ten Championship Game in 2022, ESPN reports . The information comes as the Wolverines make their case to avoid punishment in an alleged wide-ranging sign-stealing ring.

According to the allegation, Ohio State shared offensive signals and Rutgers shared defensive signals ahead of Michigan's 45-23 victory over Purdue to win its second consecutive Big Ten championship. Documents were revealed earlier on Tuesday in Sports Illustrated that appeared to reveal sheets that identified Michigan signals with corresponding plays.

Documents show other Big Ten teams decoded Michigan's signs

Michigan is planning to present evidence to Big Ten officials that show other Big Ten programs decoded the Wolverines signals and distributed them to a future opponents, according to Sports Illustrated. The documents that were partially redacted showed how Michigan opponents decoded signals and matched them with run or pass plays the team was planning on running. This news comes one day after the AP reported that a former Big Ten employee stole signs and helped compile a spreadsheet of those signs to use against the Wolverines.

Final verdict on the horizon for Michigan?

Clarity could soon come regarding allegations of illegal sign stealing by the Michigan football program as the university confirmed to ESPN on Monday that the Big Ten has issued a formal notice of potential disciplinary action against the Wolverines. According to Yahoo Sports , the NCAA has revealed its investigation findings to the Big Ten and among the disciplinary action the league has considered is a multi-game suspension for coach Jim Harbaugh. Yahoo reports that the NCAA has not found evidence of Harbaugh being directly involved with alleged advanced scouting.

Big Ten team had Michigan's signs, ex-staffer says

A new wrinkle to the ongoing investigation into the Michigan sign-stealing scandal reveals a former employee at a Big Ten program stole signs and helped compile a spreadsheet of those signs to use against the Wolverines. The anonymous source told the AP they shared documents showing Michigan's signs and corresponding plays with staffers at other Big Ten programs. The former Big Ten staffer added that Harbaugh and his coaches have been unfairly blamed for the actions of former analyst Connor Stalions, who is at the center of the NCAA investigation and resigned from his post last week.

Michigan AD Warde Manuel not attending CFP Selection Committee meetings

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel released a statement on Monday announcing that he will not be attending this week's College Football Playoff Selection Committee meetings in Texas.

"I want to provide an update regarding my participation with the College Football Playoff Committee this week," the statement read. "I will not be traveling to our weekly meeting in Dallas but will instead stay in Ann Arbor, attending to important matters regarding the ongoing investigation into our football program. I look forward to being back in the room with my fellow committee members next week and every week through the end of this season."

Manuel was named to the selection committee prior to the 2022 regular season. His term is slated to expire after this season.

NCAA joins Central Michigan's investigation

The NCAA has joined Central Michigan's investigation into allegations that former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions was on CMU's sideline for its season opener on the road against Michigan State, according to ESPN . Photos emerged on social media in November showing a man who resembles Stalions standing on Central Michigan's sideline in team gear.

"Central Michigan continues its review of the matter in cooperation with the NCAA," Central Michigan athletic director Amy Folan said in a statement. "As this is an ongoing NCAA enforcement matter, we are unable to provide further comment at this time."

Commanders coach Ron Rivera 'not worried' about job status after 35-point loss

DALLAS -- The Washington Commanders didn't want to focus on possible coaching changes -- and they're not convinced any would help.

After the Commanders lost 45-10 to Dallas -- their eighth loss in 10 games dropping them to 4-8 -- speculation once again turned to the job security of fourth-year head coach Ron Rivera and his staff.

Rivera said about his situation, "I've told you before I'm not worried about anything. All I'm going to do is do my job and see how things go. That's the only thing I can do."

But multiple players said they're not focused on the coaches fate.

"It's only when you guys ask," Washington left tackle Charles Leno, Jr. said. "No one else is bringing this s---- up. We don't talk about this s----; we don't care about this stuff, we're listening to our coaches following game plan and trying to win games."

Because it's the fourth year of Rivera's regime and the first of owner Josh Harris, there has been constant talk about the coach's future. Washington won the NFC East under Rivera in 2020 but hasn't finished with a winning record since 2016.

Harris has said he wants to give the staff a full season to better evaluate the entire operation. But the Commanders have lost three in a row and, in two nationally televised games, have been outscored 85-30.

"Who's going to step in and be the head coach? Who?" Leno said. "I don't know. ... Where we are right now I don't know that's going to help anything. I just feel like when you do stuff like that in the middle of the year, I don't know, I really don't know."

Leno said even if Harris promoted assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to interim coach, "it will be the same because at the end of the day EB will be focused on offense and [defensive coordinator] Jack [Del Rio] will be focused on defense. What's the difference?"

Multiple players have said privately that Rivera has not lost the locker room and want to see him remain as their coach for the remainder of the season. It's possible he could opt to change the staff before season's end, but after the game when asked about that he said, "I'm not going to get into that stuff."

"It really doesn't impact anything in the locker room," Washington quarterback Sam Howell said. "We just focus on what we can control, try to get better. Obviously, when things aren't going well people are going to talk about jobs for everybody -- not only coaches, players, too. We just have to zone it all out."

Receiver Terry McLaurin went through a coaching change here during the 2019 season. Then-owner Dan Snyder fired coach Jay Gruden after an 0-5 start; Gruden was in his sixth season. Washington won its first game after the firing, against the winless Miami Dolphins . But the Commanders finished the season 3-13.

"Just because you make changes here or there doesn't necessarily impact the result all the time," McLaurin said. "I'm not in those type of discussions, but I think even my rookie year when we had some change, we still had ups and downs. It's a matter of the players still having respect and pride. You can't come in here with your head hanging down and not go hard and not give effort. I just don't think that's a reflection of how personally the player you want to be. So that's kind of my mindset."

Washington was coming off an 8-8-1 season and hired Bieniemy to revive a struggling offense. The Commanders opted to start second-year player Howell at quarterback after he played well in a season-finale win over Dallas.

The Commanders anticipated offensive struggles because of the changes but did not foresee the defensive stumbles. Washington finished seventh in points and third in total yards last season defensively. It was hopeful of building on that success, but instead have struggled all season.

The Commanders rank last in scoring defense and 29th in yards allowed. Players say their conflicts extend beyond the coaches.

"In the NFL, you have to do your job and as players we're not getting the job done," Washington defensive tackle Jon Allen said. "As coaches, we're not getting the job done so I don't think anyone is getting the job done."

CHICAGO: Corey Perry is a healthy scratch for Chicago’s game against Toronto on Friday, and Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson is declining to provide any update on the forward’s status with the team.

The 38-year-old Perry has four goals and five assists in 16 games in his first season with the team. He skated for almost 15 minutes during a 3-2 loss to Buffalo on Sunday, and then was a healthy scratch for Wednesday night’s 7-3 loss at Columbus.

“He won’t be in the lineup today,” Richardson said before the matchup with the Maple Leafs, “and I’m unable to give any more information at this time.”

Asked if Perry’s absence was his decision or coming from above him, Richardson responded: “That’s just going to be kept internal for now in the organization. Hopefully we’ll be able to give updates soon, but we can’t give a timeline on that.”

Perry was acquired in a June trade with Tampa Bay. He then agreed to a $4 million, one-year contract with the Blackhawks.

Perry’s continued absence comes with the Blackhawks dealing with a rash of injuries among their forwards. Taylor Hall (right knee) and Andreas Athanasiou (groin) were placed on injured reserve on Thursday.

Option 1: Schedule an out of office from your profile picture

From the screen that appears, turn on the toggle next to Turn on automatic replies.

Type an out of office message in the text box. This message will appear when people contact you in Teams or open your profile. It'll also be sent as an automatic reply in Outlook.

Note: An out of office message is required in order to set your status and sync with your Outlook calendar.

If you'd like to send an automatic message to people outside of your organization, select the check box next to Send replies outside my organization and choose between your contacts or all external senders. You can tailor your out of office message to this audience, or use the same message you typed above by copying/pasting it into the text box.

Select the Save button.

Option 2: Schedule an out of office in settings

Once you've scheduled an out of office status and message in Teams, you'll see automatic replies turned on in Outlook with the time range and message you set in Teams. If you choose to update your out of office details in Outlook, your changes will be reflected in Teams. You can easily turn on out of office replies while on the go with the Teams mobile app. Your updated auto-reply will be synced across all your other apps.

In the Teams app, open your profile card by tapping on your profile picture in the upper left corner of the screen.

Select your current status.

From the status menu, select Out of office.

Turn on the toggle next to Set auto reply , and compose your out of office status message, which will appear when people contact you in Teams or open your profile. It will also be sent as an automatic reply in Outlook.

Turn on the toggle next to Select your start and end dates and select the date and time range when you’ll be unavailable.
